SNAPSCAN 1D is a portable measurement system which can be used to profile a wrinkle or any surface defects and find its critical parameters like width and height or depth of the profile. It uses a beam of light projected onto the measuring surface and accurately measures the profile of the defect. In a single click of a button, the peak point of the profile is identified and subsequently, width and slope of the profile is calculated. The handheld gun could be placed on the surface using height adjustable supports to accommodate scanning of various surfaces.
During measurement, intelligent algorithms identify the type of profile being scanned and automatically classifies dent or bulge. Users can adjust the measuring window to ignore any unwanted artefacts. Based on user settings, the starting point and ending point of the profile is identified and then slope is calculated. Slope limits could be entered into the software so that if any non-permissible dent or bulge is found, users could be warned.
The handheld system comes with a separate removable battery pack which shows the current level of charge. The battery pack could be separately charged and kept ready before starting the measurement process. During measurement a live window shows the current beam from the scanner and when the button is pressed, a snapshot of the beam is taken for subsequent calculation and a log is stored in the computer.
